Rachel Blood

My name is Rachel Blood. I am Ph.D. student in the Psychology Department at the University of Michigan working with Dr. Thore Bergman. I received a MRes in Primate Biology, Behavior and Conservation from the University of Roehampton, London and a BSc in Zoology from Oregon State University.

My previous work focused on the transmission of and anthropogenic influences on primate behavior. Currently, I study the social behavior and cognition of capuchins.

I am specifically interested in the evolution of the cognitive underpinnings that support the behavioral strategies the capuchins use to navigate complex social systems.  I use a combination of playback experiments and observational data to better understand what they know about their social environment.
