Robin Laurie

In July 2024, I travelled from the fields of Yorkshire, England into the role of the vocalization field assistant at Capuchinos de Taboga. Having just completed my Master’s degree in Dog Vocalizations at the University of York, I already knew how much I loved playing with technological gadgets and talking to animals; all I was missing was an even greater challenge and some time in the sun.

During my time there, my main aim was to record, process and organize capuchin vocalizations using focal and passive recorders, and to help with playback experiments. Additionally, I aided in the collection of behavioral data, GPS data and biological samples, and in the curation of a life history database. Outside of work, my favorite hobbies included climbing trees, finding bees, identifying birds and fixing the Wi-Fi.
