On July 21, 2025, 41 children from schools in Taboga and San Miguel de Cañas visited the facilities of the Taboga Experimental Farm of the National Technical University (UTN) for the Annual Environmental Gathering. The activity was held with the presence and collaboration of staff from the UTN, the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC), Taboga, and the Capuchins at Taboga Project.
This gathering aims to raise awareness among children about ecology, conservation, and the proper use of resources. As part of the event, the students participated in games and activities divided into four stations: 1) identifying the skulls of mammals and birds found in the forest reserve, 2) searching for previously hidden paper insects, 3) bird watching, and 4) presenting animal puppet shows, developed jointly by SINAC and the University of Costa Rica Dramatic Arts Center, with themes of conservation and respect for the forest.
The children had the opportunity to ask questions, tell anecdotes, and share a very unique morning with their classmates, where they received refreshments and a much-anticipated visit from Toño Pizote (SINAC’s mascot). This activity is part of the efforts of the various stakeholders to have a positive impact on the community.
